Re: Moan of the Month

Have just come back home after 2 weeks in Shankill visiting the family and while there decided to take my husband to see Riverdance in the Gaiety. (I saw the show in London many years ago and raved about it to my husband) What a disappointment and waste of money. You expect a smaller show in the Gai...

The weather forecast for Northampton was for heavy snow today and it was right. We woke up this morning to very heavy snow and it is still snowing at the moment. Schools were closed so the children had an extra days holiday and as I am writing this can see a lot of them out having good snow fights. ...

Hi Harjo I am just back home after being in Shankill for 10 days and was given a book of the Corpus Christi Tradition 60 Years of the Dun Laoghaire Area and many of the photos you posted here are in it. It is really good to look through and I am sure many of you will remember some personalities ment...

Hi Harjo I agree that book is brilliant and the pictures are certainly not boring, do you know if it is still in print? Looking at the photo of the alter boys my uncle Denis Crimmins is on the second row, 1st left. My Uncle Christy Crimmins is in the 1950 Corpus Christi Procession so its really love...

Brilliant Hargo. Loved the one of the Alter Boys with Fr Martin. How young my Uncle Tony (Crimmins) looks and also John Doyle. I will have to study it later to see if I can recognise any of the others. Keep up the good work

Hi Harjo

Yes my Uncle Tony has looked after 2 of the children - John and Declan. Thinking back was the crash in the early 70s as I am sure I had left home by then and I left in 1970.

Yet again Harjo your photos brought back memories. The confirmation of 1954 includes my uncle Denis Crimmins and his cousin John O'Malley. John and his wife were killed in a car crash in the 60's. Denis died in Dun Laoghaire.

I really enjoy looking at all the photos and I keep looking at the one of the stewards of the Working Mens Club at the Corpus Christi Procession in 1953 and I am sure that my uncle Christy Crimmins is eight from left on the back row. I will have to ask my uncle Tony to have alook at it and find out.

Hi Enviro500

I think Mrs Ellard was Maura Owens sister. Her name was Patsy and Mr Ellard's name was Pat.

Snowhite. Ref Denis and Charlie Brock. There are 3 girls and 4 boys in the family, apart from me they all live in Shankhill/Ballybrack area. I left in 1970.

Ref the Brock and Ellard Families, there were two familes of Brocks in St Patrick's Crescent. One family lived in No 9 (Molly Brock) and the other in No 13 (Peggy and Jim) The Ellard family lived on the other side of the road, not sure of the house no. They lived next door to the Walsh family.
