Re: Around the town.

Sounds like a nice guy to deal with. Several years ago my dear old mum suggested I buy Ecco shoes, she said they were the most comfortable shoes she,d ever worn. I took her advice and haven't looked back (or put a foot wrong since) 8-) They are pricey but last for years and look good too,at t...

Re: Navanman's Photos

Heres a rather blurry pic of my Renault 16 with my daughter (33 in a few days) standing at the side. Think this is the only shot I have of it, as you can see my camera wasn't the best modelavailable at the time! ;)

Re: Navanman's Photos

I was a bit like that meself Navanman, never really liked anyone driving my car except myself. When I got the Renault a mate asked me to let him drive it so I reluctantly let him, warning him that the column gears were different to a standard gearstick. Well, this git crunched the hell outa them and...

Re: Glasthule.

Hi Derrindaffderg and thanks for the reply. No, my grandmother,s name isn't on the list you have. They lived in number 4 which you would assume had to be next door. They are listed in the 1911 Census as being there with their 2 daughters and 1 son. They went on to have another son and daughter over ...

Re: Glasthule.

) Harjoe, I think you're a bit confused there; Presentation Grounds were , as you say, on Hudson Road opposite Congress Gardens. But Beaufort was on the main (Sandycove) road, just up from the Astoria, next door to Paul Cullen's house. On a different (off!) topic, I see an argument on F/Book about t...

Re: Glasthule.

Thats very interesting Farmboy as when I first heard the story from my Mother 20 odd years ago she too told me that it was the Black & Tans. Isn't it strange how the facts get muddied over the years? She also told me that my Grandfather was the youth who alerted the Volunteers. My good friend Jay t...

Would anyone be able to point out where 3 Carrolls Cottages is on this map from 1908? Being a distant relation of Joseph "Sonny" Hudson ( My Mother's people are Hudson's ) I have been interested in his story for many years. http://i1287.photobucket.com/albums/a623/Derrindaffderg/CarrollsCottages-Co...
