Re: Site.
IBS still a great place to shop. Good stock, fair pricing, genuinely knowledgable and helpful staff.
Good tolerance of construction 'virgins' like me.
A bit of a pain parking but well worth the effort.

Pat Roche was the 'gofer' in Gordons, he was a most helpful man. Pat lived at the top of
Patrick's Street on the right hand side.
For a while Murdochs occupied the shop that had been Cooks and later became Easons.
Have no memory of Wrights. The only shop I remember at the top of Convent Road was
Furlongs - one of the sons Noel appeared on the rich list in the Indo on Sunday.

I remember Mr. Duffy working in Gordons. He lived in "The Farm" he had a large family, I played football with 2 of his sons, John and Mick, I also worked as a postman in Blackrock with Mick. Gordons was always a busy little shop and was very much a feature in the Town. I remember well Furlongs at the top of Convent Road, they use to sell great sweets,it seemed to me to be a little bit classier than Doyles and Farrells,it certainly seemed bigger. I always thought that Noel Furlong was the son of Frank Furlong who owned the snooker hall between Fields and Crokes. I think that Noel had a carpet shop in Brocks Lane, he also had a few good racehorses and was a well known big gambler.

I remember it well. The son was a friend. I vaguely remember the shop in the 70's specialising in bathrooms and fixtures only? Or hang on... was it always just plumbing materials?

I would also give a nod to Costello's Hardware on Patrick St, they have all sorts of bits and piece's in there, its an alladins cave of knick knacks.
Knick Knacks ..... where did that saying come from ?

Cyril is a great character. "You go in and say Cyril, you know a thingymabob that fits into another thingamajiggy and..."Ah yeah we have them down on this aisle over here, and he'll go with you to find it" He just KNOWS what you're on about with a brief description.
He'll deffo be remembered as a Dunlaoghaireite legend.

Could be Holla. I notice the curve is drawn the opposite way to the music symbol as if it was hung up backwards?
Re: Site.
What make is the Garda car outside Sloans ?.... the square headlights are confusing me. I originally thought it was a ford cortina, then I found this which looks like a chrysler alpine but the pointed nose grill put me off.
