Based on the feedback so far I have made the following changes...
  • 500kb maximum file size that can be attached to a post. File sizes larger than 500kb will be rejected and you will get an error message.
  • 750px is the maximum width which an image will display at in a post.
  • You can upload images larger than 750px in width and they will be automatically resized to 750px or slightly less (eg: 745px).
  • When you click on an image in a post you can view the image in 'lightbox' mode, this means that the image will materialize by itself and appear larger (typically 1250px x 800px).
  • If you place two or more images in a post you will be able to click on navigation arrows to move between the images in 'lightbox' mode.
To give an example of the above I have placed three images in this post.

Please note that 'lightbox' mode will not work on mobile devices.

Thank you very much for your kind words Keeper but in truth I have only made cosmetic changes to this discussion forum as well as some minor software updating and add-on functionality over the last month or so.

Such changes and updates took place because Strum suggested that I take a look at updating and improving this discussion forum for it's members so full credit should go to him as he has managed this website since August 2006 and is enthusiastic about giving a discussion platform to the people of Dún Laoghaire and beyond.

Also as this is a non-profit website it goes without saying that a special thanks is given to all the Dún Laoghaire Chat forum members who have made donations to keep this discussion forum going over the years.

Lastly, suggestions on any improvements to this discussion forum are most welcome, likewise if you spot any bugs or problems when viewing this website please say so.

Going forward in 2019... I would hope to see this discussion forum being promoted and new members joining, how this happens is open to debate and I would hope that existing members would have some insight and suggestions?

Hey Strum, I think the clock is broken. I posted and it put up the incorrect time!

Hey Rocker, I just did a test post and the time stamp was correct for me, can you:

1) check the settings in your: User Control Panel - Board preferences - My timezone
2) check the clock on the device (phone, laptop, PC) that you used to make the post

If none of the above fix the issue let us know.

Hi Strum, Matty,

Can I suggest one more 'tweak' for the site please? So far, it's been great but there's one thing that's been nagging me and I only identified what it was now.

When I log-in, I can quickly navigate to unread posts and even to read posts that are still "new" (i.e. new is the current logged-in session) by using the Quick Links menu. But there is no way to quickly navigate to "recent but read" posts. Suppose I want to revisit a (read) post that I recall from last week. I have to either
a) remember a phase or keyword and use search
b) recall the topic and know in which hierarchy it sits and then navigate through the Board Index
c) remember who the poster and then search their posts
none of these will work efficiently if I'm trying to revisit a post where I only have a vaguely remember somebody posting about some ill-defined topic a few weeks back where I can quite recall the exact words used.

It would be great if I could also see a (paginated) list of Posts, or Post Titles, in order of recency (like the old Portal)

M.

Hi Micheál,

Thanks for the suggestion and I agree this would be a handy feature. I had a look at the extension functionalities available for these phpBB forums and unfortunately there is no such functionality. Will look into it further.
