When we found the snake outside the school hall next to the kids monkey bars, this lady took it inside. As you can see, there is nobody left in the room, except her and me. I took the photo knowing the beast wasn't dangerous - I hoped! 8-) 8-) 8-)
Very brave lady 8-) 8-)

Looking at his head I would say a python. A juvenile I heard. They don't live in my area. That was in north New South Wales near Queensland. I live in Victoria, and all our snakes are poisonous.
The one in the picture lives around the school grounds, which borders on a heavily treed area, I'm told - semi tropical - and the locals just let it be. Wouldn't eat anything bigger than a cat, so treats humans as to big to handle.
Shitens the fright out of us that don't know about them.
Someone told us it once belonged to a reptile show and just got left behind when the show moved on. Maybe? Another Rural Legend?
Harmless anyway!

Cheers Bugs, great stuff. That reminded me of a true story and the mad fish on another topic today. :D

I lived in a place called St. Helens in Lancashire in the late 70's and I used to walk along this Canal bank every day into the town. I have marked the canal with red dots and that's the extent of it, it's a dead or stagnant Canal meaning it goes nowhere and I've no idea of it's whole history.
See the two red lines, this section is completely cut off from the rest of the canal but it's not stagnant as such. The other section was covered in green slime and used to stink.
It says "The Glass House" now but that factory there is/was the famous Pilkington glassworks.
The glassworks uses the water from that section only. It pumps the water in to cool down the glass and the water comes back out into the canal as distilled tepid water.
All along the Canal there were fishermen with their umbrellas and picnic, chair and all the gear etc you know the type...
Hobbyists, they spend a day fishing and keep them in a net, log them and let them all go again.

So one day I'm walking past and this man reels in the fekin maddest fish I ever saw in my life, I can't describe it but it looked like a prop from a sci-fi movie. :D
So this old gent told me the story of the fish. Sometime back in the early 60's a pet shop owner closing down dumped all the tropical fish into that section of the canal and over the years they adapted to the water and cross-bred.
Now it's hard to believe that they could live in distilled water let alone cross-breed but I swear on my life I wouldn't take this time to type "so much faecal matter of the bull variety" on it because I saw them :D

Ah brilliant Skins thanks a mill for that. I have told that story to many people over the years and I got laughed at but like I said in my post, I saw them! Wow good memory me, got the distilled water right from that PH reference.
So it's still going on today? amazing, it would be well worth a visit and the town itself is a great place.
Thanks again. ;)

EDIT: Interesting why they used that process to cool the Glass.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Float_glass

I'm trying to find out if the pet shop owner thing is a myth but if it's not how did the fish get there and that elderly gent had lived there all his life so no reason to disbelieve him. Then again I've been here most of my life and get things wrong. ;) :D
