I looked in here to see if I could find out what went on at the Tech but no great details. We used to hang around the Library at strategic times to see who we could see. Was it only lads who went in the early 60's? We would see them coming out with bits of woodwork and metalwork.

I was there from 1971 till 1975, did my group cert and left. It was a boys tech at the time when I was there, but there were classes for older girls doing secretarial courses or sewing courses. :D

The fellows we used to be watching were Rockers of course, Mahonys, Kanes, Longs Jordans,McGuirks, Ryans. They all seemed to be having a much better time than us mostly smoking outside and combing their hair throwing shapes!

I'd better not say in case he joins and says "Gawd not that wan fancying me". Suffice to say there was great running around the church grounds and down Idrone Terrace and up Georges Avenue to the chipper ;)

Nah, just gangs of fine looking fellas. Did I revive this topic the other day.???
When I went to work fado fado there was an old fella who was teed off with the chattering young wans there were a few of us from Blackrock. He stood up in the office and announced that "all the women from Blackrock were vaccinated with a gramaphone needle" and have been yakking since.
He can't have been right! :o

With the new site format I am finding old posts that I had forgotten about...I am now of an age when I am going to a lot of funerals!! (and in my mind I am only 10). Quite unexpectedly recently I was outside a church with the mourners and I spied a lad I used to know 50 years ago in the Rock. Now I am of the age when I approach people and chat with no shyness. Well we had the best chat. He had been in a golf club with the late departed and he knew loads of Rockers from the Tech and brought me up to speed with their lives and loves. I should have taken up golf 50 years ago...who knows what direction my life would have taken!!

Very sad this. I was in Tech here for three years with Fergus and remember him vanishing. I asked about him for years but nobody knew anything. What a sad sad life. R.I.P. Fergus.

What a sad story. I remember reading this article in December. Rest in Peace Fergus. New York was and is a harsh place for someone without support and family.

Yes I read his story a while back as I get the Irish times in my news feed . It saddens me to think of his passing in a land so far away .
