Just an update...sorry not great photos, it was nearly dark and I can't do nights shots properly yet.
It just looks so odd after all these years.

The aforementioned theme song from Cat Ballou.
Sadly both these gentlemen have passed on so we will have to employ some other wandering minstrals for the public executions.
I also think that one of our esteemed colleagues would be able to re-write this song to suit more recent events - for Cat Ballou insert "John Donohoooooo"

A bank is a place where they lend you an umbrella in fair weather and ask for it back when it begins to rain.

Your Top Man KK. Sad to think that Nat, Stubby and Lee are now gone. I really enjoyed that film and I thought Lee Marvin was brilliant. Do you think that Snowy could learn anything from Jane Fonda about taking in or letting out her Girl Guides uniform after looking at the piece ( I could be hung for saying this never mind a kick in the ass). :D :D

Wow WHAT a fekin blast from the past that. :D
We saw these movies on the old projectors in the hall in Pres Glasthule on Sunday afternoons.
What great memories that, the reels of tape sticking and burning holes in the frames haha...the hand shadows in the projector screen..what a blast!
I remember that movie to this day. Didn't Jane have a brown leather waistcoat in the movie?
I think that was around the time my other leg moved...

Great idea,
In Qom in Iran many years ago we would off down to the Football stadium. The old Scaffold was up and ready...could take 8 at once but usually there were about four vagabonds and we were always advised to take an umberella, 'cos of the heat, A picnic of Pitta, Lamb, chicken and fruit... Sadly no booze allowed so had had to watch the spectacular sober... The first guy goes, no trap door just a stand kicked out she he took a while to go while the next three looked on in terror, in between prayers to drag it out and it made a great afternoon.
My mate's Mam
Fatima sold mini gallows among the crowd...while others knitted and sang quaint Iranian folk songs... You know, There was an auld Woman who lived in the wood ,Weelia, weela, wila etc..
Ah.......great memories of youth indeed...so in essence you should consider the Mailboat Quay for such events

We may consider it over here too with the rich %ankers, ooops, Bankers
for the 2010 practice to the 2012 Olympics run up !!!

Jordo
Tis all true I tell you and one can supply the toy gallows...Once you get over the first guy 'dropping' you become like the mob... "bring on the next fecker Hangman"..... One has to eat the grub a bit sharpish because o' the heat. 43C in the 'affie'......
Were were fitting out new Daf trucks for the Iran Military and they installed Long Range Missiles on them...however everything stopped for the 'hangings'...

You see the Imams abolished cinemas, t.v. etc as it was copnidered Idolatry....No Sacred Hearty pictures in the hall or the Virgin Mary in Blue there...so one needed some source of recreation...thus the Hangings... and it is huge there now but not as exciting because the use Crane mounted cranes and it is too quick !!!!!

I tell ya there's back-handers going on down there.
First they say it was an illegal demolition and now it looks like a dry berth for the yacth club!
I can't even get in there for a walk, but they can stash their boats there???

The shelter at the bandstand is almost completed I see...

Great pics Strum, brings back great memories. Real need to watch how the pier is developed. Them Yacht Clubs have grabbed enough of public land.
