General Comments

Post by cambria49 » Tue Oct 31, 2006 9:24 pm

OK guys, lets keep the general comments regading the ferries in here. The individual 'Topics' should only be used to discuss the relevent ship in the subject line.

Having said that Strum - a little reluctant to proceed untilt he site stabilises. One of the Topics has VANISHED! I added the Holyhead Ferry 1, it seems to stay there for a few hours and then hey presto. Any ideas?

My aim (not always possible) will be to post a photo a day, to keep it fresh. Of course you could just go straight to my site to see a wider collection: Sealink-Holyhead.com

Hi Justin. These Elitrix sites are very stable and I never seen one crash or even have server problems so if a topic went missing somebody had to delete it so I have no other ideas on that score.

More?

Post by cambria49 » Sun Nov 19, 2006 9:25 pm

Guys, there doesn't seem to be much interest in the photos I've been posting - should I continue? Nothing worse than dropping photos into a vaccum! You might prefer to view my collection at www.sealink-holyhead.com - if they're on here they'll definitely be on there!

Rgds,

Justin

I hear you guys, but on the 'old' site they generated discussion - but that doesn't seem to be happening here. Happy to do it if there is a genuine interest but on this side the silence is deafening! The comments above are more about the site than the subject!

Cambria, its still early days here on this site and 2 or 3 of the real regular contributors are away at the moment so things are very quiet for the moment. I,m in the process of encouraging a few people to join and my guess is that before too long there will be a lot more people here and a lot more will be viewing your great shots. Time will tell.

Why do members have to go an comment at a different page? If they want to post about the relevant ship they can do so, as previously explained.

All I asked was that the threads stay within topic - any general comments can be posted under the topic of that title.

Hi Justin,

I am new to this one and I am finding it a bit more tricky to find my way around than the old site

Like you with the ferries I am of the ilke that the Well known Dun Laoghaireites forum is dying. I am about to post again but I notice that there is virtually nothing on a follow from the previous home. This is perhaps why I may stick to the old site and all its warts. Icertainly enjoy the Ferry postings and some of the members here are, a great credit to them, posting transport photos. So I say hang in there mate. However I do feel that the original forum on 'Well Known Dun Laoghireites' is forgotten on the new site. Oliver will also be a big loss as he had 'the years' in for the older memories. Should I start again with the forum or leave it ?

Rgds,

Justin
Please, please keep going with the photos, I may not comment on them but I do go in and enjoy looking at them and would be very disappointed if they weren't there. And my grandaughter aged 7 likes them too as she travels regularly to the UK and gets no thrill out of flying but loves the car-ferry and has great fun on it. And likes to see all the other 'boats'..So you see you are reaching ALL generations, even if in my day I have had a nightmare trip on the old Princess Maud !!!

Yes keep it up Justin. Maybe theres not a lot of comment but I do look at them all from time to time and as Stargazer says the younger generations will never see these ferries or even know that they existed over the years...
I personally get a great buzz just to see them there and bring back many memories of crossings!
Cheers!

Like Spud I too was under the impression that comments werent welcome in the photos section of the ferries but having read the post again its clearer now and the point being that comments under photos should only apply to that particular ship which is fair enough.

Well Spud, with a couple of moderators anything untoward will be quickly nipped in the bud! :D
