Didn't you know this chap Grammer?

"Forever Young" Noel McGuinness Documentary.

Published on 18 Oct 2014

A documentary and tribute to Noel McGuinness a musician from Sallynoggin County Dublin who sadly passed away in July 2010. Every bank holiday Monday each August since 2011 Paul McGuinness & Arthur Whelan arrange a music packed day known as "Noeliefest" in The Noggin Inn Sallynoggin, 20 plus bands/musicians play and any money raised is donated to local charities, all for a good cause and a great event .It also keeps a tradition Noel had of giving the young up and coming musicians a chance of playing to a packed crowd and with full pa system. This documentary was made for the family and friends of Noel McGuinness and was not made for TV.

Directed by: Jason Foran & Conor Maloney
Shot by: Conor Maloney & Graham Halpin

That is so moving, I knew Liam McGuiness well, it's a long time since I've felt so moved, great little documentary, has it been broadcast does any one know, gives a great insight to a lovely family and Noel, one of life's gems.
Thanks Strum.

That was a brilliant tribute, not just to Noel, but to the warmth of the Sallynoggin people.

The McGuinness family were our next door but one neighbours. They were and still are a great family, Noely was a great character and musician. I worked with Iano, a gentleman, their Father and Mother were great neighbours. The father Dennis (Dinny), fought in the Spanish Civil War and only died a few years ago aged about 98. There was always music in the house and Paul is still very much involved in the local music scene, as are some of the featured musicians like Donal Burton and Arthur Whelan. Rest in Peace Noely.

Agree with all of you, its a great tribute to Noel and theres a lot of familiar faces in there.

I have to say that the lads that produced that video deserve huge recognition, very professional job and I hope they get the recognition they deserve and the opportunity to go on to bigger and better things.

I'm happy just being me
-----------------------------
Sometimes I wonder if
I'd turned left instead of right
Where would I be now in my life
But I'm alright
I'm happy just being me
=
I'f I'd have taken the boat
and sailed away
What kind of life I'd have today
But I'm alright
I'm happy just being me
==========
Could have been a business man-rich and fat
wearing gold watches jewelry this and that
sitting at a desk making more and more
but I'm happy just being me
===========
Maybe I could have been a flash superstar
driving a long big fancy car
Maybe I would've been super tanned
but I'm happy enough as I am
=
If I'da turned the other way Id never met you
Since I did -theres nothing I want to do
Yeh I'm alright
I'm happy just being me

Down our town
================
When Saturday comes there's nothing I like nothing better
than a ramble down our town
stand on the corner of our main street
and walk up and down
Well good morning to you Mrs. Brown
sure is a lovely day
hey there's old Bill on the other side
look he's waving away.
Ch.
Down our town down our town
Saturday lunchtime down our town
Might see Jenny passing by
she might stop and might say-Hi.

Well theres Aunt Mary and Uncle Jim
It's a long time since I seen her out walkin with him
they must be working to give it one more try
rather than kiss each other goodbye.
There's a guy who owes me money
Ah damn heres a bus he's makin a dash
Oh I dont care I'll carry on down
Cos it's great down our town
Ch.
Well our home town aint what it used to be
It's full of small shops workin for charity
bars have closed and shop shutters are down
but it will always be my home town
When the day comes for me to move and pass on
I hope they'll sing me one last song
and drive down our town one last time
and stop and buy me a "99"

Down our town-down our town
Saturday lunchtime down our town
I hope they drive me down our town
One last time down our town

Down our town-down our town
I hope they bring me home
down our town

Down the town -down the town
bring me for one last drive down the town
