Help

Post by grammer » Sat May 11, 2013 1:13 am

Now heres on for you
goes to show you I'm stuck in the last century-PC wise=
as I have mentioned before -I do not like windows 7-but I'm stuck with it. dontknow dontknow
anyway-
I was printing off something -I leaned down to switch on the printer
I hit the keyboard with my hand -when I can back to the screen it had flipped 90degrees to the left -
after naturally letting off a stream of the best curses that came to mind -it still didn't go back to normal
I switched the puter of and the screen -had a smoke and came back switched both back on and...........................................
xxxiiiitttt-the whole lot was still 90 degrees to the left -
so after a few more hail marys
I tried many ways to get the screen to right itself -xxxxxiiiit n go.
So standing and leaning over 90 degrees to the left -I managed to right click and after a couple of attempts I found Graphic options and hot keys
and opened a second panel and at the bottom of the second panel was the word-ROTATION-

so still leaning over 90 degrees to the left -I managed to click on ROTATION
and yippppppeeeee -there at the top was the word NORMAL
clicked it and
Hallaloui ahhhhh--YES -YES -YES -
me windows 7 -that I don't like was back to normal---
I have to say I was a wreck after all that hassle ---zazzzzzzzzzzzzzz -who needs hassle like that.
it's kinda funny now -but it wasn't at the time

I thought windows 7 was supposed to sort all this kind of thing on its own-
self updating -automatically sort out any problems etc.
dontknow dontknow

So Grammer the problem is with the printer. I think your printer is too low. It should be at chest height for health and safety reasons. You can get a bad back from bending down to insert paper + you are liable to hit the keyboard with your head or hand thereby causing either a large bump on the head or the screen to rotate. It is covered in all Health and Safety courses.
I have to change my PC and I HATE the look of Win 8.

I can't get my XP to update. Automatic update is turned on - any ideas?

Keep away from Windows 8. Let some other mugs test it out first.

Navanman ! I believe they have stopped supporting Windows XP, no more updates etc, yes Bugrock, agree with you, all new systems take time to be sorted, I have Windows 7 and it's been excellent, no reason to change.

I loved Windows XP, it was very easy to resolve problems on that system.
I have Windows 7 on my laptop and so far, I haven't had too many problems with it.
I do think though that the next time I need to buy a new laptop or desk top it will
definitely be an Apple Mac. I think the Ipad is the greatest piece of portable technology EVER invented....so far anyway :D
You can watch TV, movies on the go. You can use Skype to chat and let people see your
surroundings etc .....it's flippin' fantastic.

[/youtube] I think Microsoft stopped XP Udates last year. If you want good internet go to Windows 7. Windows 8 is having internet issues.

I was given a present of a new laptop with Windows 8 for Christmas and have had nothing but problems ever since. Sound on YouTube was disabled, can't access the log-in page for my Eircom e-mail, can't access log-in for Yahoo Groups. Several other sites also, getting "Error 118 message. Web seems to be crammed with people having the same problem, with very little in the way of successful outcomes. Yet I can use my wife's laptop (Windows7), or my old laptop (WindowsXP), with no problems whatsoever. It would appear to me that these so-called "upgrades" are causing more problems than they are eliminating. Anyone else think that Windows8 is "rubbitch"?

Is it as bad as the dreadful Vista OS ? If so I won't go near W8 !! They will have to support W7 like they did XP for years more, on the other hand Microsoft don't HAVE to do anything, they are a law unto themselves anyway.

1. Windows 8 is awful (I know, I just help someone to configure a new Laptop).

2. You can still get Windows 7 machines - refurbished ones - at knock-down prices from Oxfam http://www.oxfamireland.org/computers/shop

3. My next machine will be an Apple

4. I have a better suggestion for placement of printers. In the bin! Apart from keeping Ink manufacturers' pensions in good shape, I can see no future use for them except maybe printing Boarding cards. But hey - they are switching to digital versions - so any smart phone will get you on board soon.

HA HA I was the same a few weeks ago, trying every variation ..... did my head in, until I did this:

copy the address of the video you want to play from the top of the page ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNahS3OHPwA, click utube box on your reply box and now when you paste your video address ..... now delete the 's' in 'https://' and you have ....

According to Myers-Briggs, I'm a "ENTJ-a"....

Good one Grammer, reminded me of my Grandmother's house in Mulgrave Street. I then listened to a few more by Billie Edd Wheeler, one was called "After Taxes" and was very apt for the recession of today. scry

Hi Jaytee, did you check that you don't have caps lock on or numbers lock on ???
Other than that, I don't see what the problem could be as you should be able to log in from any device/location
using your password. Maybe Míchéal has tightened security by adding some new software or something dontknow

Hope you get it sorted,,,,and no using that laptop in bed now ye hear !! hellllo hellllo
