Tallant Family Dalkey 1800s

Post by LiamK » Sat Aug 27, 2011 6:24 pm

Tracing family and ancestors of Hugh Tallant (1830s to 1903) Harbour Pilot lived in Dalkey. His niece Winifred married Tom Kennedy of New Ross. Any information appreciated.

Liam,
Have a look at Kellykids photos in the members photos section,
you will see plenty of Tallants.
Me and Kellykid are both great grandchildren of RMS Leinster chief stoker, John Donohoe
best of luck
regards
Alan

Alan thanks for the response. I think the Ermine ran into a mine but the effect was the same - disaster. The Tallants mentioned in that piece must be related to Hugh Tallant, the pilot, but would love to know how. Liam

Hi Liam,
The Hugh Tallant who died on the Ermine was the son of Thomas Tallant and Catherine Maher. This Thomas Tallant was the son of a Hugh and Elizabeth Tallant. Might this Hugh be the one in your original question?

Stevo

Sounds promising but this is the sort of link I am searching for. Any idea of the other children of Hugh & Elizabeth?

SteveB

There were lots of Tallants around Dun Laoghaire - Northumberland Place, George's Place, Mary Street - are all ones I can remember.

Welcome to the site.
