The Lester Family
I joined this site recently. I am searching for Ellen Lester. I posted my topic in Dun Laoghaire section instead of posting it here. Ellen Lester lived in Tivoli Ave. Her father was Edward Lester and her mother was Susan Crimmins. In 1901 census the whole family lived in Tivoli Ave. In 1911 census Edward Lester, son Edward and daughter Ellen lived in Mellifont Ave. Ellen was born in 1896. Does anyone know anything about her?

Re: The Lester Family
If Ellen Lester was your Grandmother you must know who she married and where she went to live. Are you trying to trace back to dates prior to her marriage? Most records you could find are birth, marriage, death.

Re: The Lester Family
I am trying to find out if Ellen Lester from Tivoli Ave is my grandmother. Ellen Lester is the name on my mother's birth cert. I have the details of this Ellen Lester, her marriage and where she went to live but I can't be certain if she is my grandmother or not. I need to see a photo, if anyone would have one, to see if there's any resemblance to my mother. I have been searching for years and still don't know for definite who is my grandmother.

Re: The Lester Family
Now I know where you are coming from searcher.
It is always difficult to make a jump when you don't know the intermediate steps.
The likleyhood of anyone having a photo from the early 1900's is slim. There were very few cameras around and most people were too poor to have any interaction with anyone who would have a camera.
Have you made any enquiries on a great English website www.rootschat.org
It is free and when you register go into Forum, go to Ireland and put up your query there. A huge number of people look into that site from all over the world. I have had the most remarkable success with my family searches on that site.
