I'm not joking about the trollies :) There's a new competition in the HSE, it's a trollie dash every Saturday night :!: :!: all the trollies are lined up complete with patients and 1st prize is a real bed in a proper ward :!: 2nd prize is a place outside a real ward looking in :!: all others must return to the corridor of A&E hoping they are still alive for the next week's trollie dash :? :?

Keeper,
That sounds good to me.. however why not a night in the death house at Loughlinstown Hosp..As previously mentioned her my uncle Tom Calufield was a proud BLUESHIRT, fought with O'Duffy. went to SPAIN with 789 volunteers..........came back with only 860 !!!!!!!!!!!!. ENOUGH OF THAT AS HE WENT ON TO BE HEAD "AMBLANCE MAN " ( loss of U) there and when we stayed there we had to go visit the 'korpsus' a bit more exciting that a warm bed, but sure you will soon warm up with the 'Korps'....And you get to keep the 'DUNKIES' leftover for the rosebushes...

Yes Enviro, Loughlinstown had a reputation alright, remember my Grandparents and other old folk saying they were never to be sent there if they got ill, ironic the fact that they both died there in the end, anyway we'll be kilt cos this has nothing to do with Blackrock, sorry Rocker :?

Dont worry Keeper, Oh yes it does caus my Grandmother died there too. We always got the jitters passing it too. I think cause it used to be the poorhouse or workhouse for the area.

& that exactly what it's set to become again when the Troika & Dr Reilly have finished with it. Or should that be Bertie & Sheanie & Mickey Finn?

Just got a fundraising newsletter from the Blackrock Hospice- a charity dear to my heart. One article has grabbed me - Cyril and Jackie D'Arcy from Bray are setting off on 31 May 2012 to cycle from Lisbon in Portugal to Mojacar in Almeria Spain approx 1,000 km all to fundraise for the Hospice. They hope to do 100km a day and hope to do it in 12 days or so. People are just amazing.

Fair play to them, and all for a great cause, they do such good work in the Blackrock hospice my sister died there she was only 49yrs young with teenage kids , and it all happened so fast ,she had a hard battle and a lot of pain but all the staff were exceptional to her and to all of us her family, I had heard of the hospice but this was our first encounter with the place, and wow if you have to go this place is where you need to be, the whole set up from the rooms to the garden make a very tough time so much easier for all .I don"t wish to sound morbid but this is a great charity and one which I promote and help when ever I can .its local and that means local people get to use it there are only twelve rooms in the hospice mostly filled with paitents from the bourgh of Dun laoghaire so when you give your helping your own.

You might remember the movie "Bad day at Blackrock" with Spencer Tracy, Robert Ryan and others (including Walter Brennan).

Well, today's a bad day at Blackrock, Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey and others. Raining since last night - not heavy but horrible.

Felt like getting back into bed and staying

Denis,

I read that as sambo and could picture you walking around eating the sandwich but it's the dog you were out walking ??!
Well I have just returned after a very pleasant lunch at Weirs Pub and pleased to say it was in full flow. John was his usual bright self and the new owners have not been in yet to meet the staff but staff think it will continue as is. Here's hoping as its a great meeting place for lunch. Actually encountered a girl I hadn't seen for years - she and her friends usually go there on Tuesdays.Hope the new owners realise the good staff they have there.

SWMBO is not a dog!!!!! or a sandwich!!! Check it out for yourself - you might be one

It originates from the book "She" by H Ryder Haggard - one of the all-time best selling books. Film starred Ursula Andress

Keeper,

Thank you for jumping in to save me. But I am a thick. I don't have a mobile so don't know the texting abbreviations. I also have that picture of Grammer on his trusty steed, but, they forget they have come to slag me in my territory - Blackrock
All this started 'cause of the wet and misty day
