Just curious folks. If opposite the Noggin Inn is Thomastown and the new road Sally Glen was once Thomastown road does that mean that all on the Church side of Sallynoggin Road was all once Thomastown? Like I say just curious. Cheers. :D

It looks that way Strum, viewing the OSI historical map, when it was just fields. http://maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V1,724260,726758,6,7
After the Noggin invaded and created settlements there, it all changed.

I'd say it was Strum. On my Maternal grandmothers side all the birth certs say Thomastown (1890's). On e day about 30 years ago my great Unclepointed out houses opposite the Noggin Inn (where thomastown Cottages are now). On the 1901 census and 1911 census they were listed as living inAvondale Cottages

As far as I can remember hearing and reading Thomastown was/is on the left more or less after the bottom shops.
Woodpark was/is on the right -
I was always under they impression that Avondale cottages were further up more or less where the football pitch is
on the righthand side near the halting site.
We always knew the fields on the left up from behind the Deerhunter as Beltons dontknow dontknow dontknow dontknow

sent from my PC and typed on a keyboard (old fashioned black colour) using three fingers
