Great photos, Snowy.
I'm really surprised at the Salthill photo. I cannot ever remember of hearing about Salthill baths. Does this mean that Salthill (the old grass hill, now a car park) is reclaimed land? Was the Rampers part of the baths?
Wow, great photos again Snowy. The top one, that's Bono's House now, the big white one isn't it? And Enya's kip just above it.
Interesting the single Rail. I'll post some photos where the old line used to run, it used to run right along the coast,
but they had to divert it inland at Shanganagh area because of landslides.
Hi Snowie looking at the photos of Salthill baths that photo must have been early 1900s and before the septic tank at the Gut was built as I remember there being a land fill beside the Gut where we played among the mounds of rubbish and yes the Ramparts must have been part of the baths because if you look at the railway bridge which lead to Salthill Hotel the baths were beyond that at where the station is also if you look at the two photos one from the Martello tower at Seapoint looking back towards Salthill there is no sign of the baths and again the one with the train and tracks again no sign of the baths which leads me to believe that the area from the railway crossing at the West Pier to the Ramparts was filled in and the septic tank and pumping station were built when the town was getting bigger and somewhere had to be found for the sewerage.

For anyone interested in old photos of our town this is a must.I am not PC literate and don't know how to post a link to a particular website, maybe the good ould Strum might come to the rescue here. Anyway the site is www.nli.ie next click on national photographic archive, then click on digital photographs online.there are 8 separate collections here but the one you Dun Laoghaire'ites will be most interested in is the Lawrence Royal and Cabinet Collection.click Dublin then kingstown.there are loads of old photos here, absolute gems.sorry about the long way around but once you've visited this site it will be worthwhile, believe me. :) :) :)
