Wow so close. That has a Griffon on the top at first glance where as "ours" has a Crown...

EDIT: Lions around the rim aswell?

Great find, apart from the paper seller, does the Salvation Army Band play there as they did in Dun Laoghaire many years ago?

Thanks guys.

There are quite a few to be found around the world, I'm trying to compile a let. The manufacturer, Walter MacFarlane & Co, offered fountains, with and with canopies, from a catalogue! That i know of, these models, all very similar but not identical, can be found in Scotland, England, India, New Zealand, Australia (Victoria and Tasmania) and of course Ireland.

Freedom is about people not objects. I'm as free as I would wish to be and feel no need to destroy objects of art and craftmanship.

It might not be identical in every detail but if you could take ours away and put that one in its place I,d bet hardly anyone would know the difference (apart from the colour that is)

Sinéad, I was trying (but probably failing) to be sarcastic about the ignorant fools who pulled it down all those years ago

Sorry Enby I get very sensitive about the stupid destruction of ornaments which enhance an area and also bring back happy memories to many people.

A reminder of Mrs Brown the Famine Queen, and why not lest we forget.
