Hi,
I'm new to this site.
I was wondering would anyone know anything about the Lester family.
They lived in Tivoli Avenue. I am looking to find out about Ellen Lester who was born in 1896. Her father was Edward Lester. Her mother was Susan Crimmins. They were listed in 1901 census. In 1911 census Edward Lester, son Edward and daughter Ellen were listed as living in Mellifont Ave. I would be very grateful if anyone has any information at all that would help me find out about my grandmother Ellen Lester. I have been searching for years.

Re: Lester Family
In the 1911 census I see they were listed as Lyster. Edward could not write so maybe the enumerator guessed at the spelling.

In the 1901 census they are also listed as Lyster

As they are Roman Catholics have you looked at the parish registers?

Hi Rocker,
Thanks for the info.
I have found a baptism record for Ellen Lester in Sept. 1896 in St. Michaels Church.
Have you any idea where I could find school records for Dun Laoghaire?

School records are not available anywhere on line. Most girls went to the Dominican nuns on convent road.
I had a look at the baptism for Ellen on the kingstown registers no 2381 on 2 September 1896. There is a note to the extreme right hand side and it could have been entered at a future date seems to refer to a marriage at a St Catherine's Church, Charlestown, Mass, U.S.A.

Re: Lester Family
I saw that note on the baptism entry.
I have been trying to track down marriage records for St. Catherine's Church.
No luck yet.
