Fresh on the heels of Snowy,s photo of what turned out to be the yellow man, I took this near Killiney beach yesterday. I dont know why I took it, its pretty bland and not much in it. Then I spotted this little object left of centre in the picture. I enlarged it and it looks pretty much like a top hat!! Strum, if you get a chance you might blow it up for us. Its the strangest looking plane if it is one!

Meteors from the Moon this Weekend
Quote
"This Saturday, 13th December, the Moon will appear to spit out meteors.
The biggest full moon of the year will be located in the constellation Gemini when the Geminid meteor shower (the best show of the year) peaks this weekend, from Friday evening till Monday morning.

This shower often produces brighter than usual meteors, commonly known as 'shooting stars" so even with the bright moon, you should still be able to spot some. The Geminid meteor shower is caused by dust particles that come off an asteroid-like object known as 3200 Phaeton as it passes through the Solar System. These particles then enter the Earth's atmosphere, then as they heat up and burn, they appear as beautiful streaks of light. ".

For more information and maps go to www.astronomy.ie. We have watched them in previous years, and its well worth while. Gemini 'Stargazer', now y'all know why. Enjoy.
