My post just disappeared.

Micheál,
Nearly $8,000 - I would be afraid to bring it out with me.

If that is $8,000 how much would the lens's cost that the photographers use for football matches

or

for that now famous shot of Kate Middleton

Your looking at region €10-15K.
That's a lot of money but you must consider too that it represents a specialised tool of the trade.
(I'd imagine newspaper employees use 'company kit'. Might even lease them)
& small change when you consider possible revenue from just one special snap.

What say we take our lead from Stum's beautiful portal image and select as our target the Bandstand on the Pier?
Strum - can I suggest you be our honorary starter and open a new topic with your existing picture under - "Camera Skills - Perspective"

I'm proposing this target because its relatively small , so all contributions will share a close-knit 'canvass', yet still viewable from a broad range of distances and angles.

Its not a competition- just everyone collaborating to build a portfolio. So no real time limit but lets try to get 'em in in the next two weeks or so.

Remember - any image that has part or all of the bandstand - it'll be interesting to see how many perspectives we build up.

& no photoshop techniques please

Georgeous Snowhite - great examples of perspective.
BUT
you've posted in the wrong topic. Recall we set up a special topic for this particular portfolio - "Camera Skills - Perspective"

Me too. I'm really impressed at how so many good shots can be extracted from such a relatively small target. Some I'd never have thought of in a million clicks.

I hope to give it a go myself during the week - light permitting. (This is likely to spell the end of my short career as a photo agony aunt )

In the meantime, anyone ready for Assignment 2 (final) in Perspective?

At this price, no home should be without one -
http://www.aldi.ie/ie/html/offers/speci ... _24268.htm
Handy for compacts but Id be surprised if it'll handle SLRs with any sized lens.

Good one Micheal. I've seen them before but are they really stable enough and not just a gimmick?

Strum,
Are you sure about the 900px width?
I posted some images today and all seem to have the rightmost 100(?) clipped.

Cancel that Stum. It was the zoom configuration of my Browser that was wonky. CTL+/- sorted it out.

Equipment Rental
Heres a bit of information about renting camera equipment. Not for the faint-hearted but maybe someone needs a lens for a special occasion -

http://www.connscameras.ie/equipment-re ... 06cm2.html

I've no direct experience of this retailer and I'm not recommending this site except to say that Conn's Camera are well regarded on the Dublin photographic scene

Tip of the Day: Just try to do something like this.

Maybe there's the roots of another assignment in this - a Day in the Life of Dún Laoghaire. Hmmmmm . . .
