Agree with you Toss ! The Dun Leary Celtic team I played with would have at least 5 reds in the first 20 minutes  if by some chance an opponent managed to shake off Harjoe they then had to get past at least 3 other "solid" teammates and if by some miracle they did that then Johnny "Assassin " Corrigan lay in wait  ouch !!! Just think about Noel Cantwell's sliding tackles, Chopper Harris, Norman Hunter etc, Messi and Ronaldo and a plethora of other Fancy Dans would run off the pitch and not come back

How i would love to have seen that team in action. All my uncles on both sides of the family were football followers and they stood on the lines and roared. I met an old cousin the other night and he was chatting about being brought to every match within a bicycle ride of Blackrock. We used to have to head out early for Milltown.Great days. The fairy cakes were always ready when we got home.

My husband played with St. Agnes and a team made up of mainly
Italians (can't remember the name of it) he told me all sorts of
tales about the games. One of those was the linesman signalled wide
on a goal when the ball was clearly in the net and when questioned
by the referee his response was 'who put that in there'. Another
was that the first half went on for almost an hour - this was to allow
a car get onto the pitch in order to take off a player for whom the
Gardaí were waiting at the other end.

Fantastic win for Japan over South Africa. Their biggest win ever and the biggest shock ever. Amazing.

Pity the weather was so bad,it spoiled it from seeing 2 good teams showing their football skills. I think that Dublin would have won anyway, though I wouldn't have minded if it was a draw and Dublin won the replay. Good start in the Rugby. wuu wuu wuu

Haven't been around for the past couple of weeks so will have to catch
up on all the sporting events.
While on hols I was woken by a text at 3.30.a.m. with info on a ticket
for the All Ireland for my son. A nephew sent me a text on the Sunday
evening which read 'The Jacks are back'

Big night tonight, can't help thinking if the Germans want to win ,they will, and if they are happy with a draw, that will be our best chance. We just haven't got the players. You can see that I'm at my usual optimistic self. :?

The Germans have not cruised through the group as per usual, they have have a few shakey moments along the way. If we can stay in their faces for 70 mins, then maybe we can nick a late goal. I certainly wouldnt rule us out as O'Neill is often at his luckiest when least expected ;)

Come on you boys in green wuu
