I had a ten year old boy ask today if I was staying and if I was going to stay for dinner as well
It's such a lovely compliment when kids ( because we all know how picky they are) want to spend time with you .
You are blessed to have all of your Grandchildren around you Denis - glad you enjoy the experience !

Happiness is.......Brent geese newly arrived from Greenland, Iceland for their winter stay here in Ireland.
It's uplifting to see them flying in formation..they settle in big flocks in fields locally to eat grass roots etc as well as in the estuaries. A lot have been tagged already. How many hundreds/thousands of years have they been coming here? wuu wuu wuu

Killiney beach too Rocker, the Shanganagh end for some reason, maybe the shelter of the cliffs, no idea though, I've always wondered how birds work.

Mentioning the cliffs reminded me of my visit earlier this year. I hooked up with some Dublin South Birdwatch members and a couple of 'guides' from Birdwatch Ireland at Shankill dart station and walked down onto the beach to view the sand martins nesting in the cliff face. It was well worth the visit....lots of flying acrobatics...little sand martins sitting at the nest entrance....great!!!

I haven't seen or heard them yet Zirco. Are they in and around Saint Anne's Park? I love the sight and sound of them on the Burrow beach. They used to gather in a field at the back of my house but then the land was sold and more houses were built . There is a wonderful film called "Fly away home" well worth watching!

Zirco , I could have loaned it to you but my stuff is all packed up for moving . You can pick it up in HMV for about
six Euros though . It's a really good heartwarming movie based on a true story .

I love the sound of the Brent Geese flying overhead , so animated ! I have some photos of them on the beach - must look them up and post them !
