All perfectly clear. I wonder though, why gardening books persist in telling us, that if we have certain diseased plants, we should pull them up immediately and burn them, to avoid spread of said disease? What should be done with them?
now now skins...don't be reading those foreign buks. We in " know it all land" will have to write a newer Oirish version. My solution is to boil up all those diseased plants and eat them for dinner. We will just call them "boiled greens" and attribute some miracle cure to them then we won't be able to keep up with world demand...I'm feeling better already and I'm only thinking of the "boiled greens".

Here's one for you. I thought there was a ban on smoky coal and no backyard burning yet...I'm stunk out of it tonight...think someone in the local is burning rubbish or using their wood burning stove for rubbish burning. Smuts everywhere! smell rancid!!!
Sorry about that Rocker. I was burning my Betting Slips after Sunday's carry-on in Dublin 3

I'm learning something every day. Googled that and it sounds interesting. Just to be a bit different we will call our stuff "Soylent Greens"...as in "get your greens into you"!

Just in after a week in Romania and I can tell you that it is a gorgeous country. We had a tour through gorgeous towns and countryside. The outstanding memory is the cleanliness of the cities and towns. I watched people young and old walk to bins with every scrap of paper and waste. There was not a bag plastic or otherwise to be seen. The youths were very polite and on many occasions they opened doors for us, gave way on pavements and were generally quiet and well spoken to us and their friends. Now we did see social problems, drink and drug related but nothing on the scale of our streets. Maybe the police presence deters them but it was so pleasant to walk in any city or town at any time of the day or night..just saying....

Pleased to read that you enjoyed your visit to Romania. I worked with some Romanian women and they were always aghast at the rubbish around Dublin and the Romanian beggars on the streets of Dublin, who they claimed gave their nation a bad name. These workers were very hard working and honest.

Welcome home Rocker.

For a fleeting moment I misread your post and thought you were referring to the mythical country to the East of us . . .Remain-ia.

Very interesting Toss.
At last, I can finally ask her to her face . . .

Or just a cold and lonely lovely work of art?"

I see Ulick O’Connor has passed away R.I.P
I somehow always remember him being on TV when I was growing up .
Never could make up my mind if I liked him or not . I think he was on the Late Late Show a lot .

Sorry to hear that. I remember him well from the Telly and you're right he was always on The Late Late with Gay Byrne, I think that he just liked to be contrary.

Dear All:

I am trying to do a cut and paste job about a series of lectures starting this Thursday in the Eblana Club and running for 7 weeks, no admission fee, but, a donation would be acceptable. The lectures start at 7.30.p.m. If you want to make a booking you can contact costellojewellers@eircom.net of call Breast 0860745402

Sorry folks, it didn't work, the lectures are about events in and around Dun Laoghaire during the rising and civil war. Jamie Moran a former contributor here is involved in writing a book about these events.

Perhaps I'll see some of you there.

Jean

Thank you Toss for the correction, I wish this machine would leave what I type alone! It is very frustrating.
The lecture on thursday "A Close Quarter Struggle" presented by Dr. Edward Bourke was very interesting. Could have done with a few more people there.
On Thursday 24th 'Dublin in War & Revolution' will be presented by Padraig Yeats.
On Thursday 31st "The 6th Dublin Brigade South Dublin' will be presented bt James Brady
On 14th November 'The Weapons of Conflict' will be presented by Paul Callery
21ar November 'Deansgrange Graves' will be presented by Jamie Moran
28th November 'Ashton Ambush/Lord French' will be presented by Jim Lacey
5th December 'Spies, Informers & Collabators' Dr. Edward Bourke again.
The Venue is very comfortable and intimate, you can see and hear everything.
