Just wanted to post this in memory of my neighbours sister who died suddenly today aged 48

On a sad note Mr Jim Stapleton from Monkstown Farm died last week and was laid to rest on Friday at Deansgrange...A ex member of the Defence Forces and many years with P&T . if anyone remembers was P&T was...My brother was his son in law.....
A local Dun Laoghaire area man born and bred .....He was at the grand old age of 91 years young.

Very sad to report the passing, after a long illness, of Dermot Delahunty, formerly of Oliver Plunkett Road and brother of the late Jimmy Delahunty of W&D Motors. Funeral arrangements imminent.

I don't know if it is my age or the time of year but there seems to be a lot of funerals to attend.
If any of you know Collette Reid, Sallynoggin Credit Union - her mother's remains go to Our Lady of Victories
Church to-morrow, Monday for 10.00. Requiem Mass - she was Mrs. Doyle.

I have to agree with you Sinead I check up R I P .ie every morning to see if I am there before doing anything and my brother in law who is in a wheelchair says anytime I visit him whos? dead because it look as if I only go there to tell someone we know or played football with has passed in the last year maybe 15 or 20 .
it seems at our age all our friends and classmates are vanishing fast

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dermot Delahunt. I knew his brother and sisters. He had a tough time. May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family.

TRY AGAIN !!! And this is not the first time that my posts have vanished in the last 12 months,
I went to school with Dermot from about five years old right up until C.B.S and then the Tech...I great guy. great Family.his older brother Jimmy was instrumental with Noel White in encouraging me to commence a career, which lasted from 1964-2011 inTransport, albeit in Diesel, Bus/Truck industry.
For that I will not forget.
His sister Marie also looked after us when Jimmy/Noel and myself covered Lial Roberts milk round on his rare holidays. Marie first lived in Dalkey when she married in the mid 1960s, I think to a chap named English ? We had a full breakfast there at times !
Dermo' was a kindly friend and will be sadly missed...Yes the Delahunty Family will always be in my memory.
May God Rest him.

I got a call tonight to say they heard a George Courtney from Ratoath Co. Meath had passed away only last week and they thought it was the same George Courtney.

Anybody know if it is the same person?

I remember a George Courtney, but I thought he was from Cross Avenue. Used to hang about there anyway.
Haven't see him since the mid 70's and no idea if it's the same guy.

Just found out he was originally from D/L

He would have been in his 50's now.

We used call him georgie porgy (that would be bullying now)

Were'nt we really cruel in hindsight.

Sad to read of the passing of Kevin Heffernan. Although I am not an avid football follower it really does not seem that long since he was managing Dublin. Really hard to believe he was 83.

Heffo was a gentleman who was extremely modest about his achievements both on the field of
sport and his work. Singlehanded he rekindled the love of GAA activities in Dublin and brought
us to the edge of our seats many times. May he Rest in Peace.

You put it so well. I was never a follower of G.A.A but, in the 70's when Heffo's Army took over the Hill it was the only topic in the office and I started getting interested. He was indeed a gentleman and a scholar.

Sad to hear this morning of the passing of Eamon de Buitléar. Had the pleasure of working with him and he was an absolutely lovely man. My sympathies to his family. May he rest in peace.

It is Eamon de Buitléar that made the RTE Amuigh faon Speir / Aer wildlife Programs when we were all young. They were half as Bearla and half as Gaeilge. He was from Bray and moved to Delgany. Was big into Irish Music as well.

I was so sorry to hear of Eamonn's passing too. He was a great part of my childhood. We used to be glued to the telly watching him and gareth van Geldern (spelling) drawing all the little birds. He was an unassuming gentleman. I also had the pleasure of dealing with his sister over the years and she was an inspiration too. Low key genius.

As a child in the 1960s, Amuigh Faoin Speir was one of the highlights of the TV week. Myself and my Father would settle down to watch this program each time it was broadcast. The mellow voice of Eamon de Buitléar and the dutch sounding Gerrit Van Gelderen, together they made a great combo. De Buitléar would narrate most of the program giving great insight into local wildlife and habitats. The excellent (speeded up) drawings from Van Gelderen were amazingly detailed. The program was simply produced but very informative in those far off (and yet so recent) days of my childhood. The program was a forerunner of the excellent wildlife programs we have today, may they both RIP.
