There didnt seem to be a general Events heading so started one. Hope that is O.K
You all probably know this site, but, I only tumbled on it by accident when I was looking for a particular event. The site is run by DunLaoghaire Rathdown County Council and lists events in the Boro.

The Fusion Event scheduled for July 28 and 29 caught my attention sounds as if it could be something we could tag our Nostalgia event onto.

Dancer, Your ABC sentence set me on the trail to find this event. I think I will stick with the name Rocker though the "slow detective" might be a better one!

Should also include The Dalkey Book Festival - June 15-17

As you know, there are more writers in Dalkey than stones on the seashore. Every one of them is appearing at this festival, and all events are bookable now. If last-years behaviour is rtepeated, all the best bits are booked out early.

I heard my favourite other little Bookshop in Dalkey near the Dalkey Newsagents has closed The chapp there was always helpful and got me a GOOD prices new books, Readers in Sussex St did me well on s/hand books...

Im curious here on this one
Ihave'nt been to a play in donkeys years -
so my question is (seriously) most times on the radio your bombarded with ads for plays =
the ads say these plays are -amazing-so funny -so well acted etc-
is this true??? or is it a matter of taste.

I am laughing me head off and this isn't the jokes

.Grammer do you ever watch your man Kelly on the Works on RTE television. He and his guests do some very good reviews of plays - Hugh Linehan and co. I try to go to as many plays as I can and lots of times they are so boring and badly acted but many times I have been stuck to the seat with the calibre of the writing, the acting, the production. The Gate has some decent productions. The artistic director in the Abbey is very good and has been trying to break the old Abbey mold. Gary Hynes is an amazing woman anything she is involved with is superb. As Dancer says it is a matter of taste but there is some great stuff out there.

I was reading in the paper that the Abbey is closing -something to do with Asbestos
closing for the summer -work will cost around 450 grand---

Grammer, don't forget the Mermaid in Bray. You could also walk up to the Luas and go into town.
The Abbey is moving productions to The O'Reilly Theatre (I think in UCD) but the newsreader gave
it as being somewhere else the other day.

You would be perfect. Your sharp wit,keen mind and I'd say dead pan face would be an asset to any company. Go to Dalkey and join one of the two companies. i dont know the names something like Dalkey Players and St something. I go to any productions they have in the Hall in Dalkey and they are first class (must admit a friend does all the booking). They have visitng companies and do one act plays, really professional. And, the cakes at the interval come from Mardi Confectionery. A must do.

Yesterday in Ballybrack Village there was a Family Fun Day! I didn't think people would turn up, but there were lots of people.
In the furniture shop car park the Cedit Union had a stand giving cup cakes to children free of charge and info to adults,
they sponsored a family farm and the children were allowed feed the animals and scouts were doing face painting and a stand
where you could throw wet sponges at people. Other activities around on Military Road. Great afternoon.

Can you resurect THE BAND? Yourself and Tommy Vella would be a very good draw.... Watch this space folks, it will be
